We would ideally like a volunteer to work with us for 1 to 2 hours per week. This may be on a weekend.


We’re the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity. Because we’re here, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.  We provide ground-breaking research, expert information, friendship, support, campaigning and fundraising to find a cure, and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s

Purpose/Objective of the Role

Parkinson’s cafes are a new way of supporting people affected by Parkinson’s in a relaxed and informal setting. Greenwich/Woolwich needs a cafe co-ordinator to help run these sessions

Tasks/Duties Involved

As a cafe co-ordinator you will:

  • ensure the cafe gathering takes place on a set day and time, and that those attending are warmly welcomed
  • use and work with the chosen venue effectively, which could include activities such as ordering, making and serving refreshments, or organising a raffle on the day
  • provide updates and feedback to relevant Parkinson’s UK staff members about how the cafe session are going

Skills Required 

In order to fulfil this role, you will:

  • have excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude, as you will be working with a wide range of people
  • be patient and empathetic, in order to deal with sensitive issues and topics
  • be willing to listen and respond tactfully to the views and feedback of others, ensuring that it is shared with Parkinson’s UK staff when appropriate
