We would ideally like a volunteer to work with us for 1 to 2 hours per week. This may be on a weekend.


We’re the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity. Because we’re here, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.  We provide ground-breaking research, expert information, friendship, support, campaigning and fundraising to find a cure, and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s

Purpose/Objective of the Role

Parkinson’s cafes are a new way of supporting people affected by Parkinson’s in a relaxed and informal setting. Lewisham needs a cafe co-ordinator to help run these sessions

Tasks/Duties Involved

As a cafe co-ordinator you will:

  • ensure the cafe gathering takes place on a set day and time, and that those attending are warmly welcomed
  • use and work with the chosen venue effectively, which could include activities such as ordering, making and serving refreshments, or organising a raffle on the day
  • provide updates and feedback to relevant Parkinson’s UK staff members about how the cafe session are going

Skills Required 

In order to fulfil this role, you will:

have excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude, as you will be working with a wide range of people

be patient and empathetic, in order to deal with sensitive issues and topics

be willing to listen and respond tactfully to the views and feedback of others, ensuring that it is shared with Parkinson’s UK staff when appropriate
