IRIE! dance theatre is Britain’s leading dance theatre company working in the field of African & Caribbean dance fusion. Founded in 1985 by Beverley Glean with the principal aim of heightening the profile of Black dance in Britain, the company set out to create a repertory of works reflective of the African Caribbean influence on the Black British cultural experience.

Purpose/Objective of the Role

You will be volunteering with IRIE! dance theatre’s exciting programme of community engagement work with diverse communities, based at the Moonshot Centre, New Cross

Tasks & Activities Involved

  • Meeting and greeting
  • Publicising classes and events
  • Taking registers of session and event participants
  • Supporting and encouraging participation
  • Collecting feedback from participants
  • Helping to set up classes and events
  • Help with administration for projects

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Are 18 years old or above
  • Have an understanding of and interest in working with diverse communities
  • Are enthusiastic about the work of IRIE! dance theatre
  • Want to work as part of a team
  • Have basic admin skills like photocopying and Word Processing

Training/Support Given

You will receive an induction to the work of IRIE! dance theatre and be supported by a named member of the IRIE! team
