We hold classes in the Brockley/Ladywell and Sydenham area all week during the evenings.

Volunteers can help out as much or as little as they want.

Montage Theatre Arts is a Performing Arts charity that provides performing arts classes and opportunities for children in the Lewisham area. We run 37 weekly classes in performing arts, plus holiday courses for young people from the local community. With a respected track record for offering excellent and vital opportunities, MTA continues to help people from a highly deprived area acquire techniques and skills, develop confidence and social ability, whilst also breaking down barriers between cultural groups and generations.

Purpose/Objective of the Role

To provide opportunity for experience in the discipline you request. Ensure you are given the opportunity to assist with performances to gain knowledge and experience.

Tasks & Activities Involved

As a Subject Ambassador, we ask you to participate in the sessions and encourage the engagement of the children through a positive, personal and fun example. The Subject Ambassador assists and supports the individual subject teacher – this is a great opportunity for people wanting to have fun and active engagement with students of various ages and abilities.

Skills Required

No experience needed. Training and encouragement will be given.

Training/Support Given

Volunteers will receive an induction which will familiarise them with the requirements of their role, ease the process of starting a new placement and provide a framework within which they can develop a full understanding of the values of the organisation. This will include an introduction to safeguarding procedures and other relevant organisational policies, Health & Safety tours and where necessary, office procedures and the use of office equipment. Current volunteers may be invited to participate in the delivery of training to new volunteers.

As part of its charitable purpose, MTA is committed to offering placements as part of professional training and education. This also includes those looking for experience in a workplace environment to develop work skills.

Benefits of Volunteering to Individual

  • You will gain experience in your chosen subject as well as working with a great team of professionals and learning from their experience.
  • You will get to assist the children in a fun and safe environment and develop your own skills in working with a large group of children.
