One 2 hour meeting in the evening every 6-8 weeks, plus an additional 4-5 hours work maximum a month.


170 Community project works to improve the lives of London Borough of Lewisham residents by providing free legal and welfare advice. In 2017-18 the organisation succeeded in getting £350,000 in back payments for 500 clients.  170 Is committed to ensuring we reach the most vulnerable people in our community and help them access the support they are entitled to.We have 10 employees and have been in existence for over 40 years.

Purpose of the Role

Good administration and good governance underpins the effectiveness of our organisation and your skills will be important in helping us achieve our aims. We are currently looking for volunteers for our management committee.

Tasks/ Duties Involved

There is a meeting in the evening every 6-8 weeks, plus additional work

Skills Required

  • HR, Fundraising, Business planning and Financial expertise particularly welcome.
  • Knowledge of charities would also be be an advantage.
  • Must be able to contribute pro-actively towards the management of the organisation

Training & Support Offered

An induction will be provided. You will be supported in your role by the Chairs and Manager of 170 Community Project, and any additional training will be provided.
